It was arranged on Monday night if the Black-browed Albatross was seen on Tuesday morning we would go to try and see it which meant missing the England Football game against ze Germans.

Tuesday morning arrived and positive news the Albatross was still present at RSPB Bempton Cliffs so we arranged to go in afternoon Anthony would pick me up at 3pm.

Anthony picked me up at 245 and we headed over to his house to wait for Wayne and Steve to arrive news was still good as the bird was sitting on the sea still which it had done for most of the day. The chaps arrived and we were off on our way which was 1hr 30 away.

We were 10 minutes away when news of the bird had flew onto an area of the cliffs but out of view our hearts were beating a bit faster but the bird was still present.

We arrived in the Car park and scrambled out of the car grabbing bins and scopes and set off towards the Cliffs we heard and saw Tree Sparrows which was a new bird for me this year and as we were walking down i was talking to Wayne and said wouldnt it be good if the bird flew over our heads and the next thing we knew Anthony stuttered its ttheeeree and indeed it was it flew infront of us along the cliff face WOW what an amazing bird it continued flying along the cliffs and we set off in pursuit of this truly amazing bird.

Lee Evans a very well known contreversial figure in the birding community was there and when we got to a good view point he found the bird on the cliff face and was shouting orders to all his minions where the bird was.

After 10minutes i was glad when he moved away cos to be honest he was getting on my tits.

We watched the albatross for about an hour and people kept on giving the update from the football England were 1 up there was quite a crowd assembling to see this amazing bird we were given flight views very briefly but the bird was more than happy to sit on the cliff face so we decided to go and look for more seabirds along the cliff.

We walked further up the cliffs and saw Puffins Razorbills Gannets and Guillimot and England increased there lead to 2-0 and the game was over.

So we decide to head for fish and chips in Bridlington which were beautiful and on the way home we decided to call at Southfield Resevoir to see if the caspian terns were still there but unfortunatly they werent but 2 ruddy shelduck were a new bird for the year.

What a great twitch with great company and mostly What a bird and win.

Happy birding
