Finished nights on the morning of the 26th of Feb and decided on a trip to Slaynes lane area of Misson to be productive after finishing work. We parked up in the pub car park and walked towards Hagg Lane. Upon arrival i could see the flood water levels had dropped since last time which was good a quick scan of Hagg lane produced Wigeon Tufted Ducks Gadwall and Mallard and a few Coot throw in too.

I picked up a couple of Little Egret on the river bank one of which was the Grey plumaged individual which has been seen at various other site one of which was Potteric Carr.

I carried on towards Slaynes Lane and turned to go down and could see the flood water still looked quite high so i started to walk down and the water was getting precariously close to the top of my wellington boots so i only managed to walk to the iron gate and viewed from there. Coots Gadwall Mallard Mute Swans and a few Whooper Swans which my twitter followers will know is one of my favourite Swans.

I decided to walk back towards the road and walk along the river to view from there as i started to walk along the bank 4 Little Egret flew past a Grey Heron was seen flying towards the river and in the distance a Great White Egret flew round the back of the trees which is always a pleasure to see. We were getting good view of the Whooper Swans which i counted at 54 in total and after about 20 mins decided to walk back to the car park and have a look at Newington.

i stood at the top of the banking and scanned around with my scope adding Shelduck Oystercatcher Lapwings to the list also 2 Buzzards were seen circling and calling over the trees. Another decent visit with 36 species seen and it wont be long till the spring migrants arrive and the winter birds will disperse off to there breeding grounds.
